Driver CPC came into effect for bus and minibus drivers on the 10th September 2008 and for truck drivers on the 10th of September 2009. This affects both new and existing drivers.

Existing Bus/Minibus Drivers

For existing drivers who have held a bus or minibus licence before the 10th September 2008 you will have acquired rights and you will automatically get your CPC Licence without having to take a test.

In order to keep your CPC current you will have to complete 35 hours of training over the next 5 years which amounts to 7 hours per year (1 day per year). This is just training and does not involve any exams.

Existing Truck Drivers

For existing drivers who currently hold a full truck licence before the 10th September 2009 you will have acquired rights and you will automatically get your CPC Licence without having to take a test.

In order to keep your CPC current you will have to complete 35 hours of training over the next 5 years which amounts to 7 hours per year (1 day per year). This is just training and does not involve any exams.

After completing all of the above new drivers will be subject to 35 hours of periodic training the same as the existing drivers which amounts to 7 hours per year with no exams just training.
